Dip Brazed Fabrications

We are specialists in the design and fabrication of dip brazed assemblies. Dip brazed enclosures are commonly used in the aerospace industry because of the high quality of the finished product and its light weight.

Benefits of dip brazed fabrications include leak proof seals suited to variable environmental pressures and thermal changes typically found in aircraft. Because sheetmetal dip brazed fabrications do not require costly tooling and are also easy to modify.

Dip Brazed Fabrication Process

Fabrications for dip brazing are designed in-house to customer specification and manufactured on site. The jigsaw like pieces are then assembled prior to dip brazing. All dip brazing is sub-contracted to well established and trusted companies. The final assembly is then finished, as required, anodised, powder coated, electroplated etc.

We have years of experience with this process and have found that considerable cost savings can be achieved in comparison to other manufacturing processes such as machining from solids or welding.

The Process Of Dip Brazed Fabrication

The fabrication of dip brazed components involves the punching of interlocking sheets of aluminium and machined parts that slot together to form a 3D structure.

This is then sent off for dip brazing. The dip brazing process involves pasting a brazing filler along each seam. The assembly is then pre-heated and dipped into the molten brazing flux. The brazing filler liquefies and through capillary action flows into the joints, bonding the materials.

When the dip brazing process is complete the assemblies are then finished. Protruding screws and tags are removed and residual flux cleaned off.

The result is a leak proof strong fabrication capable of withstanding pressure drops and temperature gradients, ideal for aerospace applications.
